Sunday Mar 09, 2014

In episode 140 of the podcast, Matt and Adam dive deep into spring football story lines. Who is Taysom Hill's back-up? Can Hill become an elite passer? Can Bronson Kaufusi really replace KVN? Is this WR group better than the 2013 version? They also talk about whether BYU's performance against LMU or Gonzaga's against Santa Clara changes their opinions on who the WCC champ will be. Also discussed: Jabari and what might have been, and Jimmer lost in Chicago.

136: Hoops team surging, football signing day
Sunday Feb 09, 2014
Sunday Feb 09, 2014
In the 136th episode of the podcast, Adam and Matt go in depth on the hoops team. Does the recent win streak make an at-large big to the NCAA tournament possible? Can Tyler Haws reach the Jimmer Level? They also do a school yard pick 'em of the current hoops roster, and one team turns out a lot better than the other.
It's on to football after that, mainly talking about the new recruiting class. Is WR depth no longer a problem? They preview the RBs and OL, and discuss how a better OL could effect BYU in 2014. Mixed in throughout is Olympics talk, and same discussion of Vladimir Putin.

Adam also talks with Jason about football, including the lack of WR depth and Robert Anae's offense.

132: A Bad Weekend in BYU Sports
Tuesday Dec 31, 2013
Tuesday Dec 31, 2013
The boys walk you through a tough weekend for BYU sports fans. What should we take away from the disheartening loss to Washington in the Fight Hunger Bowl? Are Bronco or Robert Anae be on the hot seat? Should they be? They also look forward into what we might expect from the 2014 season.
It doesn't look any prettier when they talk hoops, and that was before the Cougs lost their second straight conference game. What's to blame for this terrible stretch? Can the Cougars recover?
And finally, they finish previewing all the bowl games from New Year's Day on.

130: Wisconsin Game and Road Trip Recap
Monday Nov 11, 2013
Monday Nov 11, 2013
Adam and Matt went to Madison, Wisc., to cheer on the Cougars, and despite the hard loss, still had a good time. The Badgers know how to tailgate. They recap the game as well, worrying about the receiver depth behind record-holder extraordinaire Cody Hoffman, the defense getting gouged, and the offensive returning to earth. Driven by #Tweetbag questions, they handicap BYU's chances against Notre Dame and discuss whether this season can be called a success. They finish with a brief discussion of hoops, and a draft of the best WRs in BYU history.

Monday Nov 04, 2013
Monday Nov 04, 2013
Matt and Adam once again take to the podcast airwaves and spend most of their gibber, gabber time discussing the upcoming game at Camp Randall. They both think this Wisconsin team is good, the best team BYU will have faced this season. They identify the key players and factors that could lead to an upset and provide their full game predictions. Also discussed on this podcast: the Red Sox winning the World Series and behavioral economics (though not at the same time). They also play answering machine.

97: SMC heartbreak, Gonzaga preview
Tuesday Jan 22, 2013
Tuesday Jan 22, 2013
t's episode 97, and Adam and Matt get together to chat about things. They try not to talk too much about Manti T'eo and imaginary things, but some of it slips in. They relive the heartbreak that is Matthew Dellavedova, and preview the big Gonzaga game. And they handicap the Cougars' chances of dancing in March. Then it's on to a discussion about Ty Detmer as a potential QB coach, and Matt thinks Adam ranked the 2012 season too highly. All this and Matt professes his love for musicals on a podcast you don't want to miss.

69: The changing recruiting landscape with Jay Drew
Thursday Jun 21, 2012
Thursday Jun 21, 2012
This week's podcast focuses a lot on recruiting, for both football and basketball. We change things up and bring Matt on before our guest. Adam and Matt talk about what's going on inside the minds of 17 year-olds (only football and basketball topics), answer your questions from the #Tweetbag, and discuss Adam's most recent entry into his football season rankings. Jay Drew of the Salt Lake Tribune then joins Adam to talk about impact freshman (not likely), how recruiting has changed over the past 5-6 years (not for the better), and also a little Tiger Woods. This certified 100% awesome podcast can be listened to here. Like what you hear? Want to have your voice heard? Tweet at us (@byu_riseshout) or email us at adam@loyalcougars.com.

62: 2013 Recruiting with Brandon Gurney
Thursday Apr 05, 2012
Thursday Apr 05, 2012
In a meandering podcast that matches the down time in BYU sports, Adam sits down with (as much as you can sit down with someone who is 1500 miles away) Brandon Gurney of the Deseret News to talk 2013 football recruiting, Jabari Parker, and his lack of interest in uniform color. Matt then joins Adam to have a mock draft of BYU players who you'd want to build a football program around. It's zany. It's fun. It's the Rise & Shout podcast.
